Ageing is living: implementation approaches for healthy ageing and care in the WHO European Region
Overview
Ageing is living: a strategy for promoting a lifetime of health and well-being in the WHO European Region 2026–2030 provides a regional framework for responding to population ageing. Its twin-track approach combines action to improve the lives of older persons today with longer-term investment to enable future generations to age in better health. This document focuses on implementation. It presents four mutually reinforcing areas through which the WHO Regional Office for Europe can support Member States and partners: building leadership capacity; optimizing investment; identifying and scaling innovation; and strengthening data and intelligence. Current and planned work includes leadership development, evidence-informed investment guidance, horizon scanning for innovation and the development of a regional Healthy Ageing Intelligence Dashboard. The publication provides links to separately published profiles for the Region’s 53 Member States. These profiles are prepared by the WHO European Regional Office using available data to provide a common evidence base to support policy dialogue, priority-setting, implementation planning and shared learning.
