The National Primary Health Care (PHC) Forum 2026 took place in Tsirang under the theme “Reimagining Primary Health Care for Universal Health Coverage.” The three-day forum commenced on 28 September, with the Hon’ble Health Minister, Lyonpo Tandin Wangchuk, gracing as the Chief Guest.

Jointly convened by WHO Bhutan and the Ministry of Health, the three-day forum brings together Health Assistants, District Health Officers, District Public Health Officers and Chief Medical Officers from all 20 Dzongkhags, alongside representatives from allied health agencies, academia, local governments and development partners.

The forum provides a national platform to share experiences, reflect on challenges and strengthen collaboration to advance accessible, equitable and quality primary health care for all.

Across the three days, participants are deliberating on key priorities including UHC, health governance, community engagement, digital health, health workforce, traditional medicine, sustainable health financing, disease surveillance, emergency preparedness, palliative and mental health care, NCDs, and quality of primary health care.

At the conclusion of the three-day forum, key recommendations will be developed to address identified challenges and strengthen the delivery of primary health care across the country.
